After more than three decades without a streaming home, Tales from the Crypt is finally making its digital debut. Shudder, AMC Networks’ specialized service for horror and thriller content, will exclusively stream all seven seasons of the cult classic HBO anthology beginning May 1, 2026, with additional seasons dropping every Friday through June 12 — fully uncensored.

The announcement marks a genuinely historic moment for horror fans: Tales from the Crypt has never previously been available on any streaming platform. Based on EC Comics’ legendary horror anthology series, the show ran from 1989 to 1996 on HBO and remains one of the most beloved genre anthologies ever produced, pairing sharp EC Comics adaptations with a murderer’s row of Hollywood talent. Directors including Walter Hill, Richard Donner, Robert Zemeckis, and Tom Holland helmed episodes, with guest stars ranging from Tim Curry and Brad Pitt to Demi Moore and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
John Kassir, the voice of the Crypt Keeper, revealed an all-new teaser and poster art at this year’s Overlook Film Festival, where he participated in a panel celebrating the series’ upcoming streaming premiere. The Crypt Keeper’s signature blend of puns and putrefaction will be on full display when the show kicks off Shudder’s Halfway to Halloween programming event.
