Netflix has released the official teaser for Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, the fourth installment of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s groundbreaking anthology series, premiering September 17 with all eight episodes. The cast is led by Ella Beatty, Vicky Krieps, Charlie Hunnam, and Rebecca Hall, with additional appearances from Billie Lourd, Joey Pollari, Sarah Paulson, and Jessica Barden.

The series centers on two women trapped in a household built on humiliation and cruelty — the repressed daughter of a wealthy New England family and her rebellious maid — who escape into a shared fantasy of sex, power, and revenge. The gruesome, unsolved murders that follow don’t just shock the nation; they give birth to a cultural icon who refuses to live imprisoned, choosing instead to forge her own legend. As Brennan’s logline puts it: all it took was an axe.
Max Winkler directs six of the eight episodes (401, 402, 403, 405, 407, 408), with Sarah Adina Smith helming the remaining two (404, 406). Brennan writes all eight. Executive producers include Murphy, Brennan, Winkler, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, Louise Shore, Nissa Diederich, Todd Kubrak, Carl Franklin, and Tanase Popa.
Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story premieres September 17, 2026, exclusively on Netflix.
