LAIKA’s stop-motion feature ParaNorman is set to return to theaters this Halloween in a newly remastered RealD 3D and 2D format. The limited one-week engagement will include the world premiere of ParaNorman: The Thrifting, a new CG-animated short film featuring voice performances by Anna Kendrick and Finn Wolfhard.

The re-release follows last year’s record-breaking return of Coraline and continues LAIKA’s partnership with Fathom Entertainment and Trafalgar Releasing. International markets will begin screenings on Thursday, October 23, while U.S. theaters will launch the event on Saturday, October 25.

Originally released in 2012, ParaNorman received critical acclaim and numerous accolades including Oscar®, BAFTA®, and Golden Globe nominations. The film was written by Chris Butler and co-directed by Butler and Sam Fell. This re-release also serves as the kickoff to LAIKA’s 20th Anniversary celebration.

The new short, ParaNorman: The Thrifting, is directed by LAIKA lead character designer Thibault LeClercq and written by Butler. Produced in association with Passion Pictures, the short continues the story with Norman’s sister Courtney, voiced once again by Kendrick, alongside Wolfhard in a new role.

The re-release highlights the growing interest in repertory programming, particularly accessible horror content suitable for a wider audience. LAIKA and its partners aim to build on the momentum of Coraline’s reissue, which grossed $56 million globally and demonstrated a strong appetite for theatrical re-engagements of animated genre films.
