Yellow Veil Pictures has announced the official release of Somnium, the horror science fiction debut from writer/director Racheal Cain. The film will open in Los Angeles theaters on August 29, followed by a New York City run beginning September 6. A wider digital release is scheduled for September 9 across major platforms including Apple TV, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home.

Premiering at the 2024 Chattanooga Film Festival, Somnium received the Audience Award and later earned the Silver Audience Award at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. Lead actress Chloë Levine won Best Actress at FilmQuest for her performance.
Cain began writing Somnium in 2011, launching a crowdfunding campaign in 2018 that helped bring the project to life. Production was split into two phases, with flashback scenes shot in 2018 and present-day sequences filmed between 2021 and 2022.
The cast includes Chloë Levine (The Sacrifice Game, The OA), Peter Vack (Mozart in the Jungle), Will Peltz (Unfriended), Johnathon Schaech (Suitable Flesh), and Grace Van Dien (Stranger Things).
Speaking ahead of the film’s release, Cain reflected on the project’s long journey to the screen: “This film has clawed its way into existence over the last decade, and I can only hope viewers find it was worth the wait.”
Somnium will be available in select theaters beginning August 29 and digitally on September 9.
