Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired North American rights to The Moogai, an Australian horror feature from the producers of The Babadook and Talk to Me. Written and directed by Jon Bell, the film stars Shari Sebbens, Meyne Wyatt, Tessa Rose, Bella Heathcote, and Toby Leonard Moore. Having impressed audiences at Sundance, South by Southwest, and the Sydney Film Festival—where it won the Audience Award for Best Australian Feature—“The Moogai” follows a young Aboriginal couple facing a malevolent force that may threaten their newly expanded family.

Supported by Screen Australia First Nations Department and Screen NSW, “The Moogai” is produced by Kristina Ceyton, Samantha Jennings, and Mitchell Stanley, with additional backing from Spectrum Films, Kojo Studios, Anahat Films, Salmira Productions, and Head Gear Films. Samuel Goldwyn Films will release the movie in theaters on May 9, 2025.
