Severin Films and Monocular Films will bring the new documentary THE DEGENERATE: THE LIFE & FILMS OF ANDY MILLIGAN to the Tribeca Film Festival this June, marking its world premiere. Directed by Josh Johnson (REWIND THIS!) and Grayson Tyler Johnson (BOB MORGAN’S JUST GOING TO TELL SOME STORIES), the film examines Milligan’s polarizing legacy as an underground filmmaker, playwright, and early Queer‑cinema voice.

Drawing on interviews with collaborators—including Gerald Jaccuzo, Hope Stansbury, and biographer Jimmy McDonough—the documentary pairs newly unearthed comments from Milligan himself with footage from titles such as THE GHASTLY ONES and GURU THE MAD MONK. Producers Josh Johnson, Carl Daft, and David Gregory position the project as a definitive look at an artist whose micro‑budget period melodramas pushed grindhouse cinema toward new extremes.

Tribeca audiences will also witness the first “re‑premieres” of Milligan’s long‑lost features THE DEGENERATES (1967) and KISS ME, KISS ME, KISS ME! (1968). Newly restored in 2K by Severin Films, the pair will screen alongside the documentary as a special double‑feature event.

Festival dates and screening times will be announced by Tribeca in the coming weeks.
