Netflix has unveiled the first look at Scooby-Doo: Origins, a live-action reimagining of the beloved mystery-solving franchise set to debut globally in 2027. The series marks a milestone for the franchise: for the first time in Scooby-Doo history, the iconic Great Dane will be played by a real dog.

The series follows a group of teens during their final summer at camp, where old friends Shaggy and Daphne get pulled into a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder. Joined by the sharp and scientific Velma and the enigmatic new kid Freddy, the group sets out to solve a case that drags them into a creepy nightmare threatening to expose each of their secrets.
The previously announced cast includes Mckenna Grace (The Haunting of Hill House, Ghostbusters: Afterlife) as Daphne Blake, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson (Ant-Man, The Fabelmans) as Velma Dinkley, Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones, and Paul Walter Hauser (Richard Jewell, Black Bird) in an undisclosed role. The series is currently in production in Atlanta, Georgia.
Showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg (High Fidelity) write and executive produce via their Midnight Radio banner alongside André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner (Venom, Jumanji), and Adrienne Erickson. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter (You) executive produce through Berlanti Productions, with Toby Haynes directing the premiere episode. Warner Bros. Television produces.
Scooby-Doo: Origins is set to premiere globally on Netflix in 2027. More details on the official premiere window are expected as production wraps.
