Sourcebooks’ Cosmo Reads imprint will publish She’s a Big Fan, the next thriller from Saratoga Schaefer (Serial Killer Support Group, Trad Wife, The Last Time We Drowned), on June 8, 2027. Cosmopolitan has revealed the cover and an excerpt of chapter one.
The book is being pitched as Taylor Swift meets Midsommar. Fire eater Cleo Dobbe performs with the elite, circus-inspired troupe Mythos, which is invited to entertain at global pop star Nova Rowe’s exclusive Bonfire Week. At Nova’s sprawling estate, a hundred devoted fans surrender their phones, sleep in yurts, and get early access to their idol’s new music.
The atmosphere turns sinister when fans start disappearing. Cleo’s starstruck friend Stella vanishes, and Cleo sneaks into Nova’s off-limits manor to discover a secret inner circle of superfans competing for a special prize. Blackouts, coerced bonding rituals, and whispers of Nova’s traumatic past with a parasocial fan push Cleo toward a question the book makes uncomfortable: how far can devotion go before it turns dangerous?
Interludes tracing Nova’s rise to fame, along with whistleblowing articles and Reddit posts, pull readers deeper into a fandom where something is deeply wrong.
She’s a Big Fan is a trade paperback priced at $18.99 (ISBN 9781464282553).
