Horror fans have a new reason to celebrate as Karan Kandhari’s debut feature, Sister Midnight, reveals a fresh trailer. The film stars Radhika Apte as Uma, a small-town misfit who quickly finds domestic life in Mumbai suffocating. Determined to set her own course, she defies social expectations in a narrative that blends gritty realism with dark humor.
The production comes from London-based Indian artist and filmmaker Karan Kandhari, who collaborates with cast members Ashok Pathak, Chhaya Kadam, and Smita Tambe. Renowned for its singular visual style, Sister Midnight boasts an eclectic soundtrack, marking the composing debut of Paul Banks (frontman for the band Interpol). After premiering in Cannes’ Directors Fortnight, the film went on to win Best Film in the Next Wave section at Fantastic Fest, signaling a noteworthy entry into the horror genre. With its immersive urban setting and Apte’s compelling performance, Sister Midnight promises an intense viewing experience that pushes boundaries in unexpected ways.
