The team behind Terror Vault is returning to the historic San Francisco Mint with SLASHED: Return to Hellville, a new immersive horror experience built around the style and storytelling of 1980s slasher films. The production places guests directly inside a live investigation tied to the infamous Shellville murders.

In the story, Petra Sterling — host of the popular true-crime podcast Hellville — disappears while researching a new wave of killings connected to the long-abandoned Fear Clinic. With Petra missing, her assistant Tina recruits volunteers to continue the investigation.
Participants follow Petra’s clues into the sealed town of Shellville, where they must uncover the truth behind supernatural killer Darren Grieves and recover the missing components of a mysterious device known as the Fear Engine before the violence spreads beyond the town.
Throughout the experience, guests encounter victims from Darren’s original killing spree while navigating staged sequences inspired by classic slasher films of the 1980s. The show unfolds in real time, allowing participants to explore the environment while piecing together the mystery.
For visitors looking for a more interactive option, the production introduces a feature called the Gore Necklace. Guests who opt in can signal their willingness to become part of the action as performers incorporate them into moments of staged carnage throughout the experience.
Presented inside the historic San Francisco Mint, SLASHED: Return to Hellville continues Terror Vault’s tradition of combining theatrical storytelling with immersive horror environments, placing audiences directly inside the unfolding narrative.
