Welcome back horror fiends, for another Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights HHN Tracker. Despite John Murdy’s silence from his normally prolific we actually have a ton of stuff to share with you today. Aside from visible change on construction inside the park, we have major progress on the facade on the maze in the Jurassic Park queue along with a new tent for yet another maze that has popped up in the backlot.

To open let’s look at Murdy’s tweets before he took off.

Then so you all don’t forget he mentioned Universal Studios Hollywood’s presence at Midsummer Scream.

Also, did you know that HorrorBuzz is hosting a short film festival at Midsummer Scream? That’s right! Join us in The Screaming Room where we have currated a lovely assortment of terrifying shorts your you to enjoy!

Halloween Horror Nights Auditions

Yeah don’t forget: This week Universal is holding auditions for HHN. If you have ever wanted to try your hand at scaring the ISH out of people this is the perfect place to try.

Upper Lot

Now then, onto the upper lot. We see now that the steel framework is going up on the structure just past the entrance to Waterworld, across from Starbucks. Sources have clarified that this is not the new Dreamworks Theatre that was announced before as that new attraction will be moving into the Shrek 4D theatre. Okay, so then what will this be? Our guess is shops themed to the rest of the entrance corridor.

beetlejuice

Of course Beetlejuice had to ham it up for the camera.

The Shining • Maze #2

Some really cool stuff that we kind of put together here with photographic evidence. Below is The Shining maze behind Revenge of the Mummy. While the name of the maze has been known for a while there is still plenty of speculation on what will make the cut from the movie into the maze.

We can pretty much guarantee the entrance will have you braving the infamous hedge maze as you approach the hotel. Of course, we don’t know if it will resemble the green, shrubbery from the beginning of the movie or if it will be snowed over.

Notice the next picture. Here we see what will be the end of the walkthrough attraction. it features similar arches and points much like the front. It appears that we will be the hedge maze at the beginning, then exiting through the hedge maze as well.

Regardless we are DYING for this maze as much as we were The Exorcist from last year.

Maze 3: American Horror Story: Your Roanoke Nightmare – Backlot

Okay here is some interesting news. As noted in last weeks HHN Tracker, Murdy confirmed that the new American Horror Story maze will be going into the same spot as last years AHS maze. The problem here so far is that right now, that exact spot is occupied by mounds of earth from the soundstage construction going on near the former red sea.

This leads us to the question; How exact is Murdy being when he says Your Roanoke Nightmare will be in the same spot. He specifies Backlot, but that is it. If it IS in the exact spot, they will need to build fast once the dirt is cleared.

MAZE 4 Waterworld Queue

It was confirmed by Murdy, through the @HorrorNights twitter account, that a maze will be taking up residence in the Waterworld queue again. Yet there are still no real signs of anything happening in this area aside from construction on the project in the entrance corridor.

Jurassic Park Extended Queue

Okay. We took another ride past the maze in the Jurassic Park extended queue and things have really come together on this maze. So much so that many claim to recognize the facade from a certain film franchise that we think will be a huge hit.

We have no specifics to report but we are sure that if you look at some of the better horror films from the past couple of years, something might look familiar.

Backlot Maze

So, if Murdy is being exact on the location for American Horror Story, then we have spotted a tent going up in the same spot as last years brilliant Krampus maze.

Terror Tram

Still no progress on the Terror Tram. Also, while we were there, Norman got really angry at us for having a camera.

Sorry Norman!

Starway

Rounding things out we see that the widening for the Starway is going faster than projects we have ever seen done at Disneyland.

Okay folks, that’s a wrap. we have The Shining, American Horror Story: Your Roanoke Nightmare, an unnamed pair of mazes, and one in the backlot that hasn’t even been teased at yet.

Join us on the Facebook page and continue the speculation on line with us on the HorrorBuzz page. Until next time, unpleasant dreams.
