WE CAN’T LEAVE Brings Blood-Soaked Slasher to Digital and VOD May 12 via Dark Star Pictures
Dark Star Pictures will release WE CAN’T LEAVE, a new slasher from writer-director Mike Lordi (Abandoned in the Dark), on Digital and VOD on May 12, 2026. The film leans hard into practical tension, a stripped-down setting, and a mounting body count — hallmarks of lean indie horror done right.
The premise is a nightmare anyone who’s ever sat through a bad audition can appreciate: a group of actors discover far too late that the endless hallways, locked doors, and masked figures moving through their remote, maze-like building are not part of the script. As screams turn real and escape proves impossible, survival becomes the only role left to play.
Lordi brought a personal creative philosophy to the production. “WE CAN’T LEAVE was born from a love of old-school horror and the grind of independent filmmaking,” he says. “I wanted to take the familiar world of auditions and twist it into something bloody, fun, and darkly humorous — dragging the audience through the worst audition night imaginable.”
