Saban Films has set a July 31, 2026 digital and on-demand release for Son of Sara: Volume 1, a Canadian supernatural horror from writer-director-editor Houston Bone (I Don’t Know Who You Are). The film follows a troubled pregnant woman whose dinner party invitation turns into something far more sinister — and far bloodier.
Son of Sara: Volume 1 centers on a woman whose strange cravings intensify as her estranged boyfriend reappears, bringing with him a terrifying secret connected to the life growing inside her. Bone takes the film’s premise firmly into the realm of campy, darkly comedic horror — drawing comparisons to Rosemary’s Baby while carving out a voice distinctly its own.
The film stars Chloe Van Landschoot (Lune, From), Tymika Tafari (Settle Down), Garrett Hnatiuk (Father’s Day), and Jane Moffat (Fahrenheit 451). Martine Brouillet produces under Bone’s Black Elephant Productions banner, with financing from Grisly Productions LLC and support from Telefilm Canada. International sales are handled by Visit Films.
Son of Sara: Volume 1 opened the Blood in the Snow Festival in Toronto in November 2025, where Van Landschoot took home the festival’s award for Best Lead Performance in a Feature Film.
“After gagging Toronto at Blood in the Snow this past winter, we are excited to be working with Saban to bring our grisly horror movie, and our new little monster, to audiences across the United States,” said Houston Bone.
Son of Sara: Volume 1 hits digital platforms and on demand on July 31, 2026.
