Sad news out of Vegas today as Freakling Bros. Horror Shows has announced that it will pause operations for the 2026 season as Co-Owner and Creative Director JT Mollner shifts his focus to a busy slate of film projects. The long-running attraction plans to return in 2027 with its full lineup of haunted experiences.
The decision comes as Mollner’s filmmaking career continues to grow following the success of Strange Darling and his work adapting Stephen King’s The Long Walk. This summer, he is set to direct Skeletons, a horror thriller produced by J.J. Abrams and starring Brie Larson. The production will also include supporting contributions from his family, with Freakling Bros. co-founder Duke Mollner appearing in the film and Ginnie Mollner providing an original song.
In a statement, JT Mollner said the decision to pause the haunt was difficult but necessary to fully commit to the upcoming film. He also acknowledged the attraction’s more than 30-year history of entertaining Las Vegas audiences during the Halloween season.
Freakling Bros. has become a fixture of the city’s Halloween scene, offering multiple haunted attractions known for immersive experiences. Organizers confirmed they intend to return in 2027 with Gates of Hell, Nevada’s only R-rated haunted attraction, COVEN of 13, and The Nest, a new haunt that is planned to replace the longtime Castle Vampyre.
While fans will have to wait another year to experience the attraction, the team says the extra time will ensure they can deliver the complete Freakling Bros. experience when the haunt reopens. For now, the 2026 season marks a temporary pause before the next chapter begins in 2027.
