Dead by Daylight is adding one of horror’s most recognizable figures to its growing roster of killers. As part of the game’s 10th anniversary celebration, Jason Voorhees will officially enter The Fog in a new chapter launching June 16, with a Steam public test build arriving May 26.

After years of fan requests, the Friday the 13th icon joins the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game with a playstyle built around stealth, pursuit, and environmental attacks. Jason’s arrival marks a notable addition for longtime players who have waited to see the machete-wielding slasher become part of the Dead by Daylight universe.

Jason’s in-game power is divided into two mechanics. The first, Omnipresent Evil, allows him to disappear from the map entirely, moving faster while tracking survivors through subtle visual cues such as footsteps. He can then reappear suddenly through environmental interaction points like pallets, vaults, and breakable walls, creating opportunities for surprise attacks.

His second ability, Improvised Carnage, leans into Jason’s history of using whatever is available to dispatch his victims. Players can collect debris from the environment—including broken generator parts, locker fragments, and hooks—and use them as thrown weapons. Under specific conditions, Jason can pin injured survivors against walls, creating a memorable in-game takedown.

The chapter also launches with the Jason Collection, offering multiple cosmetic looks inspired by different interpretations of the character. Alongside the default design created by Greg Nicotero for Jason Universe, players can unlock additional outfits including Backwoods Terror, Death Forsaken, and Depths of Despair, each offering a distinct visual take on the slasher icon.

For a game built around celebrating horror’s biggest names, Jason’s inclusion feels like a fitting milestone. As Dead by Daylight enters its second decade, bringing Jason Voorhees into the fold gives players another classic nightmare to either control—or try to survive.
