Writer-director Emma Higgins’ feature Sweetness is set to arrive on Digital and Demand on February 13, 2026. The film, which made its directorial debut at SXSW, examines the increasingly dangerous divide between admiration and obsession when a young fan inserts herself into the troubled life of her music idol.

Sweetness follows a 16-year-old superfan who unexpectedly encounters the rock star she has idolized for years—only to discover that he is struggling with addiction. What begins as a desire to help quickly escalates into a perilous mission fueled by fantasy. As her fixation deepens, she kidnaps the musician in a misguided attempt to “fix” him, locking him away under the belief that she is saving him from himself.

Higgins’ film explores the shifting dynamics of power, devotion, and delusion as the lead character’s intentions slip into darker territory. The narrative examines how compassion can be distorted when boundaries collapse, resulting in consequences neither character can control.

Sweetness marks Emma Higgins’ transition into feature filmmaking, expanding on themes she has explored in earlier work while presenting a grounded, character-driven psychological thriller.

Sweetness will be available on Digital and Demand beginning February 13, 2026.
