The highly anticipated first-look trailer for Scooter McCrae’s latest dark sci-fi drama, Black Eyed Susan has been released. This groundbreaking film will have its world premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival on Friday, August 2nd.

A Vinegar Syndrome Production, in association with Not the Funeral Home and Moose + Squirrel, “Black Eyed Susan” was filmed on Super 16mm film and features a lush musical score by the legendary Italian composer Fabio Frizzi, known for his work on “The Beyond” and “Zombie.” The film boasts a stellar cast, including Damian Maffei (“The Strangers: Prey at Night,” 2023’s “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Game”), model Yvonne Emilie Thälker, Marc Romeo, and ex-WWE Superstar Scott Fowler.

Scooter McCrae, a legendary underground filmmaker renowned for his works “Shatter Dead” and “Sixteen Tongues,” makes a powerful return to feature filmmaking after a 21-year hiatus. “Black Eyed Susan” is a bold, vulgar, and deeply thought-provoking film that blends cutting-edge science fiction concepts with a brutal examination of human impulses and consequences.

The story follows Derek, portrayed by Damian Maffei, a down-on-his-luck individual hired by a shady tech industrialist to “test” Susan, a lifelike robot designed for sexual abuse. Initially hesitant, Derek becomes captivated by Susan’s developing personality and inquisitive nature. As he discovers more about his own hidden desires, Derek begins to question the morality of his task and the ethics of exploiting even a robotic entity.
