Arrow Video US has announced its June 2026 slate, and horror fans have two essential releases to circle on the calendar: Takashi Miike’s Audition gets its long-awaited global 4K UHD debut on June 16, while Ted Kotcheff’s Australian nightmare Wake in Fright makes its North American 4K UHD premiere on June 30. Both arrive via MVD Entertainment Group with new restorations and extensive bonus features.

Audition, the 1999 J-horror landmark that announced Miike (Ichi the Killer, 13 Assassins) as an international force to reckon with, centers on widower Shigeharu Aoyama (Ryo Ishibashi, American Yakuza) who stages a phony film audition to find a new partner. Among the candidates is the quiet, enigmatic Asami Yamazaki (Eihi Shiina, Tokyo Gore Police) — a choice he will come to regret in unforgettable fashion. The new limited edition features a brand new 4K restoration from the original Super 16mm camera negative by Arrow Films, approved by cinematographer Hideo Yamamoto, along with hours of bonus content including an introduction and commentary by Miike, a new interview with Ishibashi, an appreciation by Japanese cinema historian Tony Rayns, and a collectors’ booklet.
Wake in Fright (1971), directed by Ted Kotcheff (First Blood, Weekend at Bernie’s), is the other showstopper. A schoolteacher (Gary Bond, Zulu) traveling through the Australian Outback becomes trapped in a rough mining town, falling under the orbit of the unsettling “Doc” Tydon (Donald Pleasence, Halloween) in a spiral of drinking, gambling, and moral dissolution. Long considered a lost film before being rediscovered in 2004, it’s one of the great overlooked horror-adjacent films of its era. This edition carries a definitive new 4K restoration with a packed extras disc including commentary by Kotcheff, a location visit, archival interviews, and a Q&A from the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival. A Blu-ray edition is also available.
