IFC Films has set an October 16, 2026 theatrical release for BREEDER, a deranged psychological horror film written and directed by Alex Goyette that premiered at the Tribeca Festival earlier this year. The official trailer is out now, and it delivers exactly what the premise promises — and then some.
BREEDER follows a broke college student lured to a remote poodle ranch by the promise of research funding. The ranch is run by an eccentric and deeply unsettling breeder played by Dot-Marie Jones (Glee), whose interest in her new guest turns out to extend well beyond academic collaboration. What starts as strange quickly curdles into something genuinely disturbing — the kind of horror that uses mundane rural settings and outwardly comic characters to mask something much darker underneath.
Goyette directs from his own screenplay. The cast also includes Daniel Doheny, Maddie Phillips (Gen V), Tanaya Beatty, and Paige McGarvin. The film runs 97 minutes.
BREEDER arrives in theaters October 16, 2026 via IFC Films.
