Antenna Releasing has unveiled the trailer and poster for The Restoration at Grayson Manor, a new Irish gothic horror film directed by Glenn McQuaid (I Sell the Dead). Written by Clay McLeod Chapman and McQuaid, the film arrives in theaters this October.

The Restoration at Grayson Manor centers on Boyd Grayson (Chris Colfer, Glee), a hedonistic heir whose contemptuous relationship with his legacy-obsessed mother takes a gruesome turn. After an accident leaves Boyd handless, his mother — played by genre icon Alice Krige (Star Trek: First Contact) — rebuilds him with prosthetic hands wired to his subconscious. The catch: the hands act on his most violent urges, and inside the family’s decaying Gothic estate, things get very dark very quickly.

McQuaid directs from a script co-written with novelist and horror-scene fixture Clay McLeod Chapman. The cast includes Daniel Adegboyega, Declan Reynolds, Gabriela Garcia Vargas, Matthew McMahon, Issac Cairns, and Dave Byrne. The film is produced by Brendan McCarthy, Deirdre Levins, Thomas Herberth, Florian Brüning, and John McDonnell.

Krige, who cemented her genre status as the Borg Queen in Star Trek: First Contact, brings unmistakable menace to the maternal role, and the pairing of Colfer — best known for comedic work on Glee — against the Gothic horror setting promises something genuinely unexpected. With Chapman’s literary horror credentials and McQuaid’s track record for darkly playful scares, The Restoration at Grayson Manor looks worth watching closely.
