Hannah plays Karl, who wakes in a wrecked hotel room with a splitting headache and no memory of who he is. When he finds a dead body in his bathtub and two police officers knock at the door, he and hotel maid Molly (Radha Mitchell, Silent Hill) are pulled into a blind descent through confusion and conspiracy, with a price on Karl’s head and half the city in murderous pursuit. He will need to draw on forgotten skills to survive.
Director Chee Keong Cheung (Son of the Soil) shot the film entirely from a first-person point of view using GoPro cameras, so every punch, chase, and explosion is seen through the eyes of the protagonists and antagonists. Think Hardcore Henry crossed with Crank. Oliver Morran and Cheung wrote the script, and the cast also includes Tamer Hassan (Layer Cake), Lana Parrilla (Once Upon a Time), Roxanne McKee, and Branko Tomović. The film opened the Midnight Madness section at its Edinburgh International Film Festival world premiere on August 13.
“Bad Day at the Office was an intense, very physical, technically complex and thrilling creative journey,” said director Chee Keong Cheung. “I was fortunate to have a truly amazing cast and crew who helped me realise this crazy epic vision.”
Bad Day at the Office runs 111 minutes, carries a BBFC 15 certificate, and opens in UK and Irish cinemas on October 30, 2026.
