Ryan Laley Games has launched Mimic, a sci-fi online social-deduction game that flips the asymmetrical multiplayer horror formula, into Early Access on Windows PC via Steam.

Players wake from cryo-sleep aboard the starship Icarus, bound for the human colony of Eden, only to find a quarantine breach has occurred. The ship’s AI has locked down navigation and set a self-destruct course straight into a nearby star. The crew must repair vital systems to open an escape route while rooting out which survivor is secretly the mimic, an alien creature that can disguise itself as one of them.

Unlike games that pit survivors against a single antagonist, Mimic assigns secret roles with their own win conditions. The mimic hunts from the shadows, an agent works to keep the creature alive for study, and an impressionable android roams the halls hunting organic life. Players can cast votes to steer the android toward a suspect, use proximity chat to coordinate or lie, and keep playing as an invisible Omen after death. Private lobbies support custom modifiers, and Twitch viewers can influence the android’s hunt. Codex logs scattered across each map reveal the story of the Trident corporation and the Icarus crew.

The Early Access build will grow with new maps, roles, progression, and a single-player mode. A PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S release is planned for 2027.

Mimic is available now on Steam for $9.99 with a 40 percent launch discount: store.steampowered.com/app/2606850/Mimic/
