A spell(man) has been cast on Netflix viewers everywhere. The spell came in the form of the darker Sabrina comic series brought to streaming life in 2018. Now the third chapter of this spell is set to be cast at the end of this month! If you haven’t see the Netflix original series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (What the heck are you doing here?? Go watch the series NOW! There’s still time to catch up!… I am so disappointed in you.) there are previous season spoilers in this post, so proceed at your own risk. As the Part 3 series premiere approaches, Sabrina Spellman and Lovecraft have a special gift just for you. Their gift? A music video and a trailer all wrapped up in one, talk about a twofer!
Synopsis: Part Three finds Sabrina reeling from the harrowing events of Part Two. Though she defeated her father Lucifer, the Dark Lord remains trapped within the human prison of her beloved boyfriend, Nicholas Scratch. Sabrina can’t live with herself, knowing that Nick made the ultimate sacrifice and is suffering, burning in Hell under Madam Satan’s watchful eye. So with an assist from her mortal friends, “The Fright Club” (consisting of Harvey, Rosalind, and Theo), Sabrina makes it her mission to free him from eternal damnation and bring him back into her arms. However, the Dark Lord’s unseating has sent shockwaves through the realms—and, with no one on the throne, Sabrina must assume the title of “Queen” to defend it against a challenger, the handsome Prince of Hell Caliban. Meanwhile, in Greendale, a mysterious carnival rolls into town, bringing with it a threat to the Spellmans and the coven: A tribe of pagans looking to resurrect an ancient evil…
If Megan Trainor decided to become a witch and write a song about love and taking over the underworld this is exactly what it would look like. A music video as a trailer is a fun concept. A catchy song showcasing characters from the series as well as scenes from the upcoming season is a great way to showcase the show and what it has to offer. The video is so many things wrapped up into one. Although a heavier focus on scenes from the upcoming season might have been preferable, this was a fun and unexpected change. The last few moments of the video are the best and capture the entire tone of the series. Well done Netflix!
