20160731_162829Midsummer Scream’s “Hall of Shadows” may have been the home for many thrilling shouts this past weekend, but just upstairs in their own little area, Kitten Rescue Los Angeles turned those frightened “AAAH’s” into heart-melting “AWWW’s.” In an original collaboration rarely seen before at Halloween/horror conventions, Midsummer Scream hosted it’s very own kitten/cat adoption with Kitten Rescue Los Angeles.

Kitten Rescue is known for being one of the largest and most respected animal welfare groups in Los Angeles. Running as a volunteer-based non-profit organization, the KRLA team has been devoted to finding loving new homes for unwanted cats and kittens for almost 20 years. Kitten Rescue volunteers place approximately 1,000 cats and kittens into new homes every year, and have rescued and placed over 10,000 cats into loving homes to date.

At Midsummer scream, dozens of rescued kittens and cats got the chance to show off their “freaky feline” side to the attendees, and many of them successfully captured the hearts of their potential new owners. As a frequent visitor of this particular booth, I cannot say I ever walked by without someone pointing out a cat or kitten with serious consideration of adopting. By close of the weekend, the team received eight applications of hopeful adopters, with many more interested in adopting in the future.

Want another chance to meet the FURocious felines of Kitten Rescue Los Angeles? Be sure to join them at their upcoming event, “Fur Ball at the Skirball” on September 10th.

Love the cause but can’t go home with claws? Kitten Rescue Los Angeles is always accepting donations, as well as new volunteers. Find out more information at www.kittenrescue.org .
