Dark Star Pictures has secured the North American distribution rights to The Disinvited, a psychological horror/thriller directed by Devin Lawrence. The film will premiere with an exclusive Los Angeles theatrical release this November, followed by a digital rollout.

The film had its North American debut at the Dances With Films festival in Hollywood on June 21, where it won the Audience Award for Best Picture. The story follows Carl, who crashes a wedding among old friends, only to see his attempt at reconnection unravel into paranoia, betrayal, and violence during a desert weekend gathering.

The Disinvited stars Sam Daly (The Office, Bel-Air) in a lead performance, joined by Dani Reynolds, Ryan Vincent, and Alana Johnston. Produced by Matthew Mourgides, the film was previously released in Brazil this past April, where it received international recognition.

“The Disinvited lures you in with the promise of a nostalgic reunion, then pulls the rug out in the most unsettling ways,” said Mike Repsch, President of Dark Star Pictures. “Devin Lawrence has crafted a slow-burn nightmare that is both intimate and unflinching.”

Director Devin Lawrence added, “This indie was built with blood, sweat, and twisted joy, and we couldn’t ask for a better partner to help it find its audience.”

The deal was negotiated by Michael Repsch for Dark Star Pictures and Andrew Van Den Houten on behalf of the filmmakers.
