Story Syndicate and Diamond Docs will debut Titan: The OceanGate Disaster at the Tribeca Festival on June 6, 2025, followed by a global Netflix launch on June 11, 2025.

Directed by Mark Monroe, the feature documentary investigates the 2023 Titan submersible tragedy that claimed five lives during an expedition to the Titanic wreck. Drawing on whistleblower accounts, internal audio recordings, and early company footage, the film examines OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush’s drive to make deep-sea exploration accessible—and the technical and ethical failures that accompanied that mission.
Producers Lily Garrison, Mark Monroe, and Jon Bardin collaborate with executive producers Liz Garbus, Dan Cogan, and others to present a detailed timeline of design compromises, safety warnings, and pivotal decisions that led to the fatal dive. By framing the disaster within broader questions of innovation versus accountability, Titan invites viewers to reassess the costs of ambition beneath the ocean’s surface.
World-premiere screenings at Tribeca will feature Q&A sessions with the filmmakers, ahead of the documentary’s streaming debut on Netflix just five days later.
