Monstrous has partnered with Weird Tales Magazine to publish the first-ever official Weird Tales graphic novel, bringing classic pulp horror stories into a prestige-format hardcover. Fans can support the project now on Kickstarter, where multiple collectible editions and exclusive rewards will be available.

Originally launched in 1923, Weird Tales helped shape modern horror and fantasy, publishing early works from influential writers including H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Ray Bradbury, and C.L. Moore. The upcoming graphic novel adapts several of the magazine’s seminal stories while also introducing new tales inspired by its literary legacy.
Among the featured adaptations are Ray Bradbury’s “The Scythe,” Robert E. Howard’s “Skulls in the Stars,” and C.L. Moore’s “Shambleau.” The project also includes an original Lovecraft Mythos story by Rodney Barnes and contributions from creators such as Nancy A. Collins, Steve Niles, Blake Northcott, Robert Hack, and Marco Finnegan. Legendary artists Kelley Jones and Eric Powell provide collectible cover artwork.
Editor Jonathan Maberry, who credits Bradbury as an early mentor, described adapting “The Scythe” as a meaningful milestone, while publisher John Harlacher noted the project continues the long tradition of writers and artists drawing inspiration from one another within the Weird Tales universe.
The 8.5-by-11-inch hardcover will feature limited-edition tiers that include variant covers, a challenge coin, apparel, and other incentives. Monstrous, led by founder James Aquilone, has previously found success on Kickstarter with genre-focused releases such as Kolchak Meets the Classic Monsters and Classic Monsters Unleashed.
