As the fall season approaches, Titan Comics is set to introduce readers to a new blend of Nordic noir and folk horror with Alva in the Dark Vol. 1, arriving in stores on September 22, 2026. Written by Aksel Studsgarth and illustrated by Daniel Hansen, the graphic novel launches the first chapter of a planned Scandinavian horror trilogy.
The story follows Alva, a young thief trying to stay under the radar while pulling off small jobs with her crew. Everything changes when a burglary leads to the discovery of an ancient witch imprisoned behind a steel door. The encounter sends Alva and her friend Mini on the run across a frozen Scandinavian landscape while a mysterious organization known as the Craftsmen closes in.
As danger mounts, Alva learns that she is descended from the Fell, a nearly extinct people whose powers are sought by those willing to do whatever it takes to control them. Along the way, she must uncover the truth about her origins while navigating a world where the line between humans and monsters is anything but clear.
Combining supernatural thriller elements with Nordic folklore, Alva in the Dark Vol. 1 offers a new take on witchcraft and mythology. The 272-page full-color softcover marks the beginning of a larger story from Studsgarth and Hansen that blends mystery, dark fantasy, and horror influences.
Published by Titan Comics, Alva in the Dark Vol. 1 will be available on September 22, 2026, with a retail price of $19.99.
For readers interested in folk horror, European comics, and stories rooted in mythology, Alva in the Dark Vol. 1 adds a new voice to Titan Comics’ growing lineup of genre titles and sets the stage for a larger trilogy still to come.
