Filmmaker Sam Irvin, known for directing Elvira’s Haunted Hills and co-executive producing Gods and Monsters, has released his highly-anticipated new memoir, Confessions of a Brian De Palma Protégé! The book is now available in hardcover, paperback, and Kindle editions through Knuckle Samwitch Books, with an Audible audiobook read by Irvin arriving in October 2025.

This new release continues the story Irvin began in his award-winning memoir I Was a Teenage Monster Hunter! and offers a behind-the-scenes account of his time shadowing director Brian De Palma on films including The Fury and Dressed to Kill.

Packed with over a thousand photos, Confessions of a Brian De Palma Protégé! shares Irvin’s encounters and experiences with a remarkable roster of talent such as Nancy Allen, Michael Caine, Sean Connery, Robert De Niro, Angie Dickinson, Carrie Fisher, Vincent Price, Steven Spielberg, John Travolta, and many more.

Celebrated Child’s Play creator Don Mancini has praised the memoir as “revelatory, hilarious, jaw-dropping… even for De Palma junkies.”
