The Horror Makes Us Happy podcast is celebrating its sixth anniversary on May 1 with a slate of updates that expand its content and audience engagement. Hosted by Steve Becker and Chris Whitman, the show is introducing a new theme song, a revised live interview format, and a fan-focused giveaway.

The updated theme song was contributed by a listener and rerecorded by Becker, featuring vocals from an unnamed former frontman of a well-known rock band due to contractual limitations. The track will be released separately on the podcast’s YouTube and Spotify channels and will serve as the outro for upcoming interviews. The existing intro music, created by Becker and Whitman, will remain in use.
In addition to the new music, the podcast is evolving its format with weekly YouTube Live chats. These sessions bring back former guests to discuss their current projects and reflect on their earlier appearances, which originally followed a more in-depth, psychological interview style. The live chats stream every Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Eastern, with fourteen episodes already available.
To mark the anniversary, the podcast is also launching a book and DVD giveaway featuring signed items from past guests. Entry is available through the show’s mailing list, accessible via their official website. A full list of prizes has been shared across their social media platforms, including BlueSky.
Horror Makes Us Happy continues to build on its community-driven approach while expanding its content offerings. Becker, author of A Guide to the Recovery Toolbox, and Whitman, creator of the horror webcomic PIECES, remain at the center of the show’s ongoing evolution.
