Haunt professionals Scott Swenson, Owner & CEO Scott Swenson Creative Development, and Phillip Hernandez, CEO/Journalist Gantom Lighting, took to the stage inside the Haunting Grounds At IAAPA to discuss Marketing The Monsters. The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions is a massive convention that caters to the creators in the industry. It is here that they find new ideas and resources for creating the fun.

In what proved to be a surprisingly insightful discussion, Swenson and Hernandez led a packed presentation that explored multiple subjects geared towards helping haunters and make the right decisions for success.. For instance, what type of Halloween event might be best for a particular location? Should it be super scary or family friendly? Once that is decided, where and how do you market? Finally, how does a creator budget for the scope they are capable of?

I think the best bit of advice that came out of this talk really summed up every subject, “Shoot where the ducks are.” Essentially, figure out your goal, find it, and take your shot. A brilliant bit of advice.
The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions was held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida and welcomed vendors, creators, and professionals from around the world to share ideas and create new experiences. The Haunting Grounds was a special section of the show dedicated to haunt professionals and aspiring creators. Presentations and discussions were held here throughout the event that focused on building and creating the spooky fun we all love.
