The trailer has arrived for What’s Wrong Wendy, a queer vampire horror-comedy from writer Spooky Madison (Rabbit Season, Boy from Below) and co-directors Madison and Dusty Austen. The film is set to premiere on the 2026 festival circuit, with additional theatrical and VOD release plans to be announced.

Set in the fictional town of Sequoia Lake, the story follows Wendy Day, a perpetually stoned pizza delivery girl whose reunion with former high school crush Victoria Sinclair sparks more than romance. After a one-night stand, Victoria, played by Alexandra Boulas, realizes Wendy has changed—she’s faster, hungrier, and far more dangerous than the girl she once knew.
The film’s cast includes Madison, Anthony Dain, Tova Weinberger, Dana Weddle, and Jace Carson, alongside special appearances by Leah Voysey (Terrifier 2) and Andrew Ferchland (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Filmed in Columbus, Ohio, What’s Wrong Wendy leans into practical gore effects, messy kills, and dark humor while embracing themes of queer identity and transformation.
Positioned as a mix of horror and comedy with a sharp queer perspective, What’s Wrong Wendy draws comparisons to Jennifer’s Body and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. With buckets of blood and a rising lead in Alexandra Boulas, the film aims to carve out a place in the evolving landscape of LGBTQ+ genre cinema.
