Slaterverse Pictures and Black Fawn Films have released the first full trailer and theatrical poster for The Undertone, writer‑director Ian Tuason’s feature debut set to bow at a sold‑out World Premiere on July 27 at Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival.

Starring Nina Kiri (The Handmaid’s Tale), Michèle Duquet (The Virgin Suicides), and newly announced cast member Kris Holden‑Ried (The Umbrella Academy), the film centers on a popular “all‑things‑creepy” podcaster who moves into her late mother’s house to provide care—only to receive ten disturbing audio files from a pregnant couple besieged by paranormal sounds. Each recording mirrors her own life, eroding her grip on reality and steering her toward an inescapable fate.

“This movie came from a deep and vulnerable place,” said Kiri, praising Tuason’s decision to draw on personal grief for the story. Tuason added that premiering in his hometown of Montreal “feels like things have come full circle.”

Produced by Dan Slater and Cody Calahan, The Undertone marks the first collaboration between Black Fawn Films, Slaterverse, and Kino Studio. Executive producers include Chad Archibald, Daril Fannin, Brit MacRae, and others, with world sales handled by Black Fawn Distribution.
