Silvercity Sharks has announced Pepper the Giant Purple Dog, a psychological horror game currently generating significant buzz across YouTube and streaming platforms ahead of its planned Q3 2026 launch on Steam. A free demo is already live on Steam, where it has earned 94% positive reviews.
What starts as a wholesome pet simulator quickly curdles into something far more disturbing. Players take on the daily responsibilities of caring for Pepper — a giant purple dog with an increasingly insatiable hunger. Feeding, bathing, and walking him seems manageable at first, but Pepper’s needs escalate in deeply unsettling ways. The game is framed as a recovered artifact: a fictional children’s title that was originally set for release in 2002 but was shelved and never seen — until now. Set in the sun-drenched suburb of Normalville, the premise plays like a lost relic of childhood that hides something monstrous underneath.
The game draws clear inspiration from the Clifford the Big Red Dog franchise while steering hard into mascot horror territory, blending dark humor with genuinely unnerving narrative beats. Silvercity Sharks — the studio behind the game — has also landed Game Theory host Tom Robinson in a voice acting role, giving the title an added layer of genre cred for fans of the gaming horror community.
“What begins as a wholesome pet simulator quickly transforms into a disturbing horror experience,” said Jaroslav Vyhnička, Producer at 4Boars, the game’s PR representative.
