Buffalo 8 has released the official trailer for Mala, a supernatural horror thriller that combines psychological suspense with elements of South Asian mythology and folklore. Written by Nisha Sabharwal and directed by Trishul Thejasvi, the film is set to arrive on premium video on demand platforms this summer following a successful festival run.

Mala centers on Reema, a woman who inherits an abandoned resort on a remote tropical island after the death of her mother. Determined to uncover the truth about her family’s past, she travels to the island accompanied by three friends. Their journey soon takes an unexpected turn as they encounter mysterious locals, cryptic warnings, and evidence of an ancient family curse connected to tantric rituals and black magic.

Produced by the mother-daughter team of Indigo and Nisha Sabharwal, the film stars Indigo Sabharwal (Curry Scent, Draupadi Unleashed), Nehru Sabharwal, Nirvan Patnaik (Four Samosas), Gisele George, Nikhil Kamkolkar, Priya Deva, Raw Leiba, Dhiman Nayak, Adam Scheetz, Bobby Marinelli, Christopher Dubs, JC Anthony, and Jonathan Ramos Santiago.

The film has already garnered attention on the festival circuit and became the first Indian film to host a panel at New York Comic Con. By weaving together supernatural horror, family trauma, and cultural folklore, Mala presents a story rooted in both psychological tension and mythology.
