Independent studio Endflame has announced Silent Road, a first-person psychological horror game set within a remote Japanese forest region known for its long and tragic history of suicides. Alongside the announcement comes the game’s first trailer, offering an early look at the uneasy atmosphere awaiting players.

In Silent Road, players take on the role of a night-shift taxi driver navigating desolate forest routes and isolated mountain villages. Each passenger becomes a new challenge, with conversations and stories that steadily shift in tone as the night deepens. Through these tense interactions and environmental clues scattered throughout the drive, players begin to uncover the truth behind the forest’s unsettling past.

Visually, the game draws on classic Japanese horror influences, incorporating cyan-green palettes, fog-covered roads, and an atmosphere reminiscent of Silent Hill and Fatal Frame. Endflame co-founders Laura Ripoll and Guillem Travila note that Silent Road marks a return to the studio’s roots in J-Horror storytelling, building on the foundation of their earlier title Ikai.

Silent Road Announcement Trailer

“We’ve always loved Japanese horror—the quiet tension, the atmosphere, the way it stays with you long after it ends,” Ripoll and Travila shared. “Silent Road grew from that love. This project is our way of embracing that call and crafting an experience that carries something deeper beneath the surface.”
